The 2024-2025 online programme fulfils one of the Comédie-Française’s fundamental purposes: reach as many people as possible and achieve its sharing duty.

The programme revolves around the works and themes from this year’s baccalauréat curriculum (general, technological, and theatre specialization). It is a perfect opportunity to explore major social issues encountered by high schoolers, which are relevant at all ages.

  • The goal is to provide students with sensitive outlooks, to draw links between different pieces, artists, and issues everyone has an interest in, instead of saddling them with yet another class or theoretical piece of knowledge. Students have access to free, diverse and thorough content in several forms: talks or performances recorded in one our theatres, programmes created to be streamed (Théâtre à la table)... Claudel’s take “Forget understanding; in fact, simply forget” could very well be this programme’s motto, the aim being to take a candid, diagonal look on what you’re sure of and to be open to new things.

On a particularly desperate day, an old man offers to sell him a magic skin which makes all its owner’s dreams come true. But each time a wish is made, the skin shrinks, along with his life. Clotilde de Bayser reads extracts from this coming\-of\-age, fantasy novel.

    The work of a lifetime, the kind that’s always by an author’s side, written as he moves through life and through the changing of customs within the society of his era. La Bruyère’s _Caractères_ gathers thoughts, proverbs, descriptions, holding up a mirror to his time and contemporaries. It is always important to be reminded of his timeless lesson: “We must laugh before we are _happy_, for fear we die before we laugh at all.” Didier Sandre reads from Volumes 5 to 11, to offer the students preparing for the baccalauréat – and their parents – a lively, moving interpretation of this 17th century piece.
